Frequently asked questions

Are the gardening guides really free?

Yes. All six PDFs are completely free to download, print and use at home. You don’t need to sign up or give an email address.

Are these guides suitable for UK gardens?

Yes. Every guide is written for the UK climate and UK gardening seasons. Planting and pruning windows are typical for the UK. Mild or sheltered gardens may be a week or two earlier, and exposed or northern gardens a little later.

Can I print them?

Yes. Each guide is an A4 PDF designed to print on a home printer. Many gardeners laminate the charts or pin them up in the shed, greenhouse or kitchen.

Which guide should a beginner start with?

Start with the Beginner’s Month-by-Month Garden Calendar. It tells you which jobs to do each month. Then use the pruning, bulb and fertiliser guides as you reach those tasks.

Can I share the guides?

You’re welcome to share a link to this page with friends, gardening clubs or allotment groups. Please link to the page rather than re-uploading the PDFs elsewhere.
